SAFE AST

AST ANTI COVID19 RULES

AST ASSESSMENT COVID-19

A FEW SIMPLE RULES

DISTANCING AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

All employees must comply with the minimum safety distance of 1 metre.

For activities where it is not possible to maintain the minimum distance of one metre, protective glasses, single-use gloves, and suitable “surgical” masks (FFP2 or FFP3 for specific activities) must be worn. Surgical masks, in particular, must be used in all cases where common spaces are shared (e.g. in the system control panels, offices, etc.).

REGULATIONS REGARDING ENTRY AND EXIT TO/FROM THE FACILITY

All incoming personnel have their body temperature measured (with thermal cameras or scanners).

The turnstiles at the entrance of the company have been disabled to prevent the possibility of infection by contact. Employees must use the open gates and register access with their badge, avoiding all contact with the device. The same rules apply to exit the premises.
The precautionary measures applied to suppliers and visitors are similar to those applicable to AST personnel, with specific regulations for drivers.

    CLEANING AND SANITISATION ACTIVITIES

The company’s premises are cleaned regularly by specialised firms. In common-use areas, dispensers and handheld distributors of disinfectant are available to employees, who are encouraged to use them to periodically clean and sanitise their work place. Extraordinary sanitisation measures for control panels, breakrooms, common-use areas, cloakrooms, restrooms have been adopted alongside normal cleaning activities.

REGULATIONS REGARDING ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE CLOAKROOMS

Cleaning and sanitisation have been intensified in the cloakrooms of the various company sites; the cloakrooms may be used only in case of necessity due to a particularly fouling activity and in compliance with specific rules of conduct.

Rules to prevent gatherings and guarantee compliance with the minimum safety distance have been laid down for the management of any access to and use of the cloakrooms.

HOW TO BEHAVE IN THE PRODUCTION AREAS

Access to the control panels is allowed solely to operating personnel. The work stations inside are separated with floor signs or dividing screens with the appropriate distances. Control panels, bridge crane cabs, engine cabs have been equipped with suitable cleaning kits, used by personnel to sanitise the station at each shift.

For all activities where it is not possible to guarantee that the safety distance of at least one metre will be maintained (e.g. maintenance, manual handling of loads that involves at least two persons, etc.), the use of personal protective equipment (e.g. surgical/FFP2/FFP3 mask, single-use gloves, safety glasses) is mandatory.

The use of lifts is not recommended; in case their use is strictly necessary, only one person may use the lift at a time.

Face-to-face meetings with more than 3 participants are forbidden. In case of a higher number of participants, meetings must take place over conference call or videoconference. If this is not possible, spaces of a size that guarantees the minimum distance of one metre between participants must be used.

Meeting colleagues from other AST departments/plants/buildings/sites and all outside contact is forbidden, unless strictly necessary. In such case, a record must be made of the date and name of the persons who participated in the meeting (never more than 3).

          TRAVEL AND EVENTS

All travel within Italy and abroad is suspended.

HOW TO BEHAVE IN COMMON-USE AREAS

Canteen services have been suspended and replaced with the distribution of lunchboxes, organised to guarantee compliance with the safety distance and prevent gatherings.

In the breakrooms it is necessary to respect the safety distance of at least 1 metre, take turns with colleagues to avoid crowding, and stay in the room for the time strictly required for consumption.

The vending machines of snacks and beverages in the breakrooms have also been disabled.

              USE OF COMPANY VEHICLES

Before and after using company vehicles, the steering wheel, the controls and the door handles must be sanitised with the appropriate wipes. The vehicle must be used without transporting passengers; should this be strictly necessary, the passenger must sit in the back seat, on the opposite side from the driver, and both must use surgical masks and gloves.

The heating/air conditioning system must not be used. If required (e.g. in case of rain, high temperatures, fogged windscreen), the internal air recirculation function must be disabled.

                REMOTE WORKING

Since the very first phase of the health crisis, Acciai Speciali Terni has adopted “teleworking” for all employees for whom this is possible, allowing them to work remotely. This was possible thanks to the support of the necessary connection tools and to the dissemination of a set of rules and information notices for working better and safely.

                  MANAGEMENT OF POSITIVE CASES

We know it may happen, but we are ready to efficiently manage positive cases at the plant, as:

                  • we have implemented the necessary preventive measures to mitigate the risk of infection and transmission to other colleagues
                  • we got organised and defined an action plan for a prompt and safe response
                  • we follow and apply the guidelines set by the authorities, at global (WHO), national (Italian National Institute of Health – ISS) and local (Local Health Authority – USL) level, using the most conservative approach to protect the health of all workers and guarantee normal company continuity
