RESPONSIBLE STEEL

ResponsibleSteel™

Arvedi AST has started the process for ResponsibleSteel™ the first global certification program for the production of sustainable steel

To confirm its focus on the environment and compliance with ESG principles, Arvedi AST is currently engaged in ResponsibleSteel™ certification, the world’s first certification standard for the steel industry, which already includes major players internationally.

ResponsibleSteel™ was created to promote and support responsible steel production by addressing environmental, social and economic issues associated with the steel industry. A wide range of stakeholders were involved in the process of creating the standard, including steel producers, nongovernmental organizations, customers, trade associations, unions and other interested parties. Together, they developed more than 200 criteria and requirements that steel producers globally must meet to achieve ResponsibleSteel™ certification.

Arvedi AST is engaged in DNV Certification Body Audits to verify the applicability in the company of the most important criteria for the sustainability of a steel company, including: governance and business ethics; health and safety and other human and labor rights; stakeholder engagement and local community relations; climate change, greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity; water management and other environmental impacts.

Identifying in the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) principles that inspire Responsible Steel, the values of the Company’s sustainability and corporate responsibility, a specific Sustainability Committee has also been established in Arvedi AST capable of orienting top management decision-making towards environmental issues, with the aim of ensuring long-term value for the benefit of all stakeholders relevant to the Company and the territory.
